B. Technical Workshops
During this quarter, ERDA organized workshops of one and two day’s duration. These workshops consisted of presentations covering a wide range of topics, along with practical demonstrations and visits to laboratories. Participants from DISCOMs, TRANSCOs, Government Utilities, and private organizations attended the workshops. The details of the workshops conducted are as below.
i) One day workshop on “Evaluation Techniques for Instrument Transformers (CT/PT, CTPT Units)” held on 11th October 2024.

ii) One day workshop on “Evaluation of HTLS Conductors” held on 8th November 2024.

iii) One day workshop on “Evaluation of Smart Meters” held on 29th November 2024.

iv) Two day workshop on “Quality Assurance of Wiring Accessories – Switches, Plugs & Sockets” held on 9th & 10th December 2024.

C. Expert Talks
i) Mr. Bhavesh Vasiyani, Ex. ERDA official delivered an expert talk on “Electrical Safety Audit” at the Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI), Vadodara, during the two-day conference on “Fire Protection Systems in Industries, Hospitals, Buildings, and the Power Sector” on 16th October, 2024. The conference was organized by the Society of Power Engineers and CBIP.
ii) As part of the World Quality Week celebrations, Adani Energy Solutions organized expert lectures on energy transmission network systems on 14th November, 2024. Dr. Nitin Shingne, Head, Advanced Materials, ERDA delivered an insightful online session on “Composite Insulator: Emerging Trends and Practical Insights.” His lecture explored the latest advancements in composite insulators, highlighting ERDA’s contributions in research, development, and expert services aimed at enhancing insulator reliability.
iii) Dr. Nitin Shingne, Head, Advanced Materials, ERDA delivered an invited lecture at the 18th CIGRE Asia-Oceania Regional Council (AORC) Meeting in Xiamen, China, held from 24th to 26th, November 2024. The event brought together over 100 participants, including B1 Committee Chairpersons and technical representatives from China, India, Thailand, Japan, and Australia. Dr. Shingne presented two case studies on cable failures and actively contributed to discussions at the AORC meeting.

iv) Mr. Arunesh Dwivedi, Accredited Energy Auditor from the MEMS Section of the R&D Division, ERDA was invited as an Expert Speaker by the prestigious Institution of Engineers (India), Vadodara Center, during Energy Conservation Week on December 17, 2024. He delivered an insightful lecture on “India’s Achievements in Energy Conservation and Efficiency & Energy Audit in Process Industries and Power Stations,” highlighting key advancements and best practices in the field.

v) As the knowledge partner for ITMA, ERDA played a key role in a series of technical seminars held across Dehradun, Jaipur, Aurangabad, Guwahati, and Visakhapatnam from May to December 2024.
The ERDA team delivered insightful presentations on:
- Methodology to Monitor Hot Spot Temperature of Distribution Transformers
- Evaluation and Testing Requirements of Distribution Transformers
These seminars brought together transformer manufacturers from across India, utility representatives, and BIS officials, facilitating valuable discussions on industry advancements and best practices.


D. Students’ Visit
At ERDA, our passion for knowledge-sharing knows no bounds. We constantly strive to disseminate knowledge in every way imaginable. As part of this, we arrange industrial visits for engineering students, enabling them to explore a world of practical knowledge. These visits offer a remarkable opportunity for students to embark on a captivating journey through diverse laboratories, where they can acquire invaluable hands-on experience.
During this quarter, we welcomed 120 students in three batches from Nirma University, Ahmedabad.
